Rabies is a major health threat. If you see an animal you think may have this disease, please call the Health Department Office at 973.226.8080 Raccoons, skunks and other nocturnal animals that are out during daylight hours should be suspect. Any wild animal that is unusually aggressive or friendly and animals that appear sick should also be reported.
To protect your pet and your family all dogs and cats should be vaccinated for rabies on a regular basis. The Health Department conducts free rabies vaccination clinics several times a year to assist residents in obtaining vaccinations for their pets.
