Adopting ordinances relating to the protection of the health
of borough residents, employing and fixing salaries of necessary personnel,
jurisdiction over the bureau of vital statistics, the health officer, and
other such necessary employees.
The Borough of Roseland contracts with the township of
East Hanover for it's Health services.
The mission of the Health Department is to improve the health and quality
of life of the citizens of East Hanover Township and Roseland Borough through
the use of health promotion strategies, health protection strategies, preventive
services and community health surveillance.
BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENING: Free blood pressure screening
is available to all residents every 2nd and 4th Wednesday at the East Hanover
Municipal Building from 9:00am to 10:00am and at the Roseland Borough Hall
every 3rd Friday from 12:00pm to 1:30pm. Screenings are conducted by our
public health nursing staff and pre-registration is not required. Please

INFLUENZA (FLU) & PNEUMONIA VACCINATION CLINIC: Flu
and Pneumonia vaccination clinics are conducted each fall. Advance registration
is required 973-428-3035. The fee for residents 65 years and older with Medicare
Part B only is free all other residents will be charged $20.00. A receipt
will be provided to you for possible reimbursement from your own provider.
It is the residents responsibility to submit for his/her own reimbursement.
Please make checks payable to: Township of East Hanover. Same rates apply
for residents requesting a Pneumonia Vaccine.
CANCER SCREENINGS: Low cost cancer screenings for men and women are
sponsored by the Health Department several times a year. The Men's Cancer
Screening is usually offered each May and the Women's Cancer Screening in
the Spring. The Health Department also offers a coupon program to receive
low cost mammography at area breast clinics. Contact the Health Department
Office at 973-428-3035 for registration and additional information.
SMAC-23 BLOOD SCREENING: SMAC-23 Blood Screening is a comprehensive
blood test that reports cholesterol (HDL/LDL), glucose & triglyceride
levels and other blood parameters. The Blood screening is available to all
East Hanover & Roseland residents age 18 and older.

Screenings are conducted twice annually. Fee for the SMAC
blood screening is $19.50 and prior registration is required, additional
tests are available for a fee: CRP (Homocysteine & High Sensitive Cardiac)
$23.00, TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) $22.00, PSA (Prostatic Specific
Antigen) $23.00. Call 973-428-3035 for more information.
FOOD SAFETY: The Health Department's environmental
staff conduct inspections of all food establishments within the Township
of East Hanover and the Borough of Roseland. These food establishments include
anyone who serves food to the public, from a large grocery store to a small
vending machine. Our health inspectors work closely with retail food providers
to ensure that that their facilities, services and employees comply with
State standards. While most of our communities food establishments are clean
and safe, problems can occur. If you ever have a concern about food safety
