 2017 Press Releases
Internet Transaction Safe Zone

Roseland is pleased to announce the introduction of a SAFE ZONE, creating a safe location to conduct
sales transactions that originate on the Internet.

This location is in front of the Roseland Police Station and has a live video surveillance that is also recorded.T
he concept is to create a safe zone for individuals to complete a purchase that started on-line between
two individuals.

Mayor John Duthie worked with our Police Chief Richard McDonough to bring this initiative to Roseland
to enhance safety. Buyers and sellers can meet in a secure location instead of using their own home.

There is a sign at a parking spot in front of the police station. This is a safer way of conducting this type of
transaction, but of course can not guarantee any individuals safety.

Project Medicine Drop Box
The Borough of Roseland wants to assist our residents in fighting against the nationwide epidemic of
opiate and heroin abuse. The Borough, working with our police department and Attorney General’s office,
is proud to have installed a Project Medicine Drop located at police headquarters. This convenient drop
allows our residents to securely dispose of unused or excess medication 24 hours a day. We should all do
our part to battle this serious issue plaguing our nation. The drop box is located in the lobby of our police
station at 15 Harrison Avenue and it provides our residents a safe and secure method of disposing of
unneeded medication.

Williams/Transco, the operator of the natural gas compression station in Roseland hosted an invitation only
meeting wherein they announced that they will be seeking federal approval to expand their operations at their
facility in Roseland. At the subject meeting , the borough requested that Williams/Transco attend an

We expect to hear backfrom Williams/Transco with a meeting date in early 2018. At that time we will notify
our residents of the date, time, and location of the proposed meeting The borough is in the process of crafting
a resolution requesting Williams/Transco share their plans at a local open public meeting and directing any i
nterested party to contacttheir elected officials at the federal level to urge Williams/Transco to fully discuss and
explain their expansion plans and openly discuss the potential implications that their prospective expansion could
