Essex Fells Water System Notice

Water Faucet

Roseland Borough receives quarterly notices from Essex Fells regarding PFOAs and their water system and once receiving each notice, the Borough forwards these notices to our professionals and NJDEP, as we require approval from NJDEP to notify our residents.

Until 2016, PFOA was an unregulated contaminant, meaning neither the EPA nor the NJDEP regulated it in drinking water. Then, in 2016, the EPA set an advisory level at 70 parts per trillion. However, effective in 2021, the NJDEP began regulating PFOA in drinking water and set the maximum at 14 parts per trillion. We must meet the state standard, even though the federal standard is different.

The Borough will post all notices received by Essex Fells and notices from the Borough of Roseland below. These notices were also mailed to all water and sewer customers in the Borough.
