As of 9/10/2021, President Biden has declared that a major disaster exists in New Jersey, after the remnants of Hurricane Ida caused flooding and devastation across New Jersey last week. This declaration makes federal funding available to people affected by the storm in Bergen, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Middlesex, Passaic, Essex, Hudson, Mercer, Union, and Somerset counties.

This assistance covers temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs designed to help people and business owners recover.

If you are seeking assistance after the remnants of Hurricane Ida came through New Jersey, a Disaster Recovery Center has opened in the former Kmart at 235 Prospect Avenue in West Orange - sharing the space with the county's vaccination center. FEMA Representatives and representatives from the U.S Small Business Administration will be available 8am-7pm Monday through Friday and 8am-5pm on Saturdays.
