9-1-1 Operating Service

For all emergencies, please call 911. If you accidentally call 911 by mistake: Stay on the line and let the dispatcher know what happened. We have no way of knowing if you dialed the wrong number or if there is actually an emergency unless we can contact you, so all 911 calls (even hangups) are treated as emergencies. Most of the time a person has dialed the phone again so we have to have an operator break into the line so we can speak with someone and confirm that there is no emergency. In the meantime a police officer is being sent to the address just in case it is an emergency. All of this could be avoided if you just stay on the line and say "Sorry, wrong number."
