2020 Senior Citizen of the Year Contest & Celebration Luncheon

Event Flier

The Borough of Roseland, NJ is looking for nominations to choose the 2020 Senior of the Year and to invite all Roseland seniors to the annual luncheon celebration for the winner of the prestigious contest that has occurred for almost half a century.

"It is an honor to recognize any resident for their service to our community, but it is extra special when you can honor someone who has a history of serving our great community,” said Mayor James R. Spango. “It has been said many times before that a measure of any community is how it services and treats its youth and seniors. It’s refreshing in this case it is our seniors serving our community.”

Nominations are being accepted for the 2020 Senior of the Year award up until Friday, April 3rd. All nominations submitted to the Roseland Recreation Office must be a Roseland resident for at least three years, be 55 or over, and all submissions must include a narrative or resume of the nominee’s contributions. Additional rules and regulations do apply and the full list of criteria and rules can be picked up at the Recreation office or viewed on the Borough website.

"Even though we are only choosing one award recipient as the Roseland Senior of the Year, this luncheon is to honor every senior citizen in Roseland,” said Councilwoman Eileen Fishman. “It is the Borough’s way to say thank you for all they have contributed to our community. We are privileged to be able to host and support this event each year.”

The Luncheon and Awards Ceremony will take place on May 15th at the Hanover Manor in East Hanover, NJ at noon. All Roseland seniors 55 and older are invited and while there is no cost, an RSVP must be received to the Recreation Department at 973-403-6899 before Friday, May 8th in order to attend.

For those that need transportation to the event, please call the Senior Transportation bus at 973-226-5108 as soon as you have sent in your RSVP to ensure that you have a space on the bus for that day.
