Tennis Courts Are Reopening!

Reopened Tennis Court Announcement

Per guidance from the Roseland Health Department and in compliance with CDC guidelines, Roseland is reopening the tennis courts at the Harrison Complex. Tennis courts will operate on a limited basis, providing all social distancing and other special rules are followed in order to limit the spread of COVID-19. Please read the following rules and guidelines carefully as there is now a reservation process to use the tennis courts until further notice.

The following are the rules and procedures that all tennis court users must follow:

1. Maintain social distancing (no closer than 6’ to other player). If this does not occur, courts will be closed.

2. Singles only, no doubles. Only two players allowed per court. Please use the court mentioned in your reservation.

3. ONLY Roseland residents may use the tennis courts.

4. Court hours are open 8:00am to 8:00pm every day.

5. 1 Hour maximum court time use. Players must vacate the court as soon when their appointment time has ended.

6. Court reservations are required either by calling (973) 403-6822 when the Recreation Department is open or you can register online through Community Pass. Having a printed or easily accessible electronic confirmation of your reservation is required upon entering the tennis courts. If having a printed or easily accessible confirmation is not possible given your technology capability, please register over the phone through the Recreation Department so proper arrangements can be made.

a. If calling on Monday, you can call the Recreation Office between noon and 4:30pm. Tuesday through Thursday, you can call the Recreation office from 8:30am-4:30pm. On Friday, you can call the office between 8:30am and noon. Please note that you will need to call the Recreation office on Friday in order to make an appointment to use the court for Saturday, Sunday, or Monday.

7. Arrive no earlier than your scheduled appointment time to allow time for any current tennis court users to vacate the court safely, while practicing social distancing requirements, before you arrive. Do not congregate near court openings when waiting to play. Form a line, staying 6’ apart.

8. Players must stay on your side of the court; do not switch ends.

9. You may only touch your own equipment or tennis ball - do not touch fence, gate, net, etc. Use your own hand sanitizer before and after play. No washrooms or bathrooms are provided.

10. Mark or number your tennis balls with magic marker for easy identification. Only serve your own ball. If you need to give someone back a ball to serve, use your racket or foot.

11. Consider spraying balls briefly with a disinfectant spray at the conclusion of play or use new tennis balls the next time you play.

12. Players should primarily hit from the baseline and avoid net play unless other player is on baseline.

13. It is highly recommended to wear a face covering prior to and after playing. It is also recommended to wear a face mask while playing if possible.

14. If you or family members have displayed any symptoms or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, please stay home. If you are vulnerable or have any underlying health conditions, do not play tennis.
