After the resignation of Councilman Roger Freda at the February 27 Borough Council meeting, the Roseland Governing Body appointed and welcomed Neal Goldstein to fill the remainder of Councilman Freda's term on Tuesday evening at their monthly Caucus Meeting, specially held in Council Chambers for the occasion.

Councilman Bardi nominated Mr. Goldstein to fill the remainder of the term, with the entire Borough Council present for the meeting voting to approve his nomination to fill the open seat.

“In my opinion, Councilman Goldstein will bring great added value to this Council,” said Mayor James R. Spango. “I personally look forward to the contributions that he can bring to this governing body and to the Borough and I’m proud to have you sitting up here.” All councilmembers gave remarks welcoming Councilman Goldstein to the governing body and expressed enthusiasm for his service going forward.

Councilman Goldstein has been a Roseland resident for 25 years, has previous experience serving on the Roseland Board of Education, has two children who were raised in the Borough, a volunteer in the Recreation for many years, and his wife’s side of the family has been a part of the Borough community for many years.

Councilman Goldstein will assume all of the liaison positions and committee responsibilities held by former Councilman Freda before his resignation.
