Roseland Remembers Santo Barretta

The Borough of Roseland, NJ offers its condolences to the family of longtime resident and owner of local business, Reisinger Oxygen, Santo Barretta.

"We have lost another pillar of our Roseland community,” said Roseland Mayor James R. Spango. “Mr. Barretta has set an example of volunteerism for generations to follow. Chairman Barretta’s legacy of community involvement will live on, through all he accomplished, in our Borough.”

Chairman Barretta was the 1977 Roseland Italian- American Citizen of the Year, the 1988 Roseland Volunteer of the Year, and the 2001 Roseland Senior Citizen of the Year. Mr. Barretta was also a long time member of Kiwanis and Unico.

Mr. Baretta had served on the Board of Adjustment since 1977 and Chairman of that Board for nearly 40 years. He also served as a board member of the Roseland Volunteer First Aid Squad since it was established and has most recently served as Chairman. Mr. Baretta also served on the Recreation Committee.

Barretta Court in the Avalon Development was named in honor of Santo and Lucille Barretta and their children.
