Tropical Storm Isaias Debris Pickup

Fallen Tree

The Borough of Roseland wants residents to be aware that the Department of Public Works is putting in place a special branch collection pickup as part of the recovery efforts from Tropical Storm Isaias.

The DPW will begin a special collection of branches and debris on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 on all Borough and County roads. Residents are advised to have their debris placed at the curb by the end of the day on Tuesday, August 11, 2020. Crews will begin on Beechtree Road and work eastward toward Laurel Ave until all residences have been visited. Once crews have completed each street, they will not return for branch pick up until the next pickup date of September 8.

“Our Borough fared better than most and I attribute our success to a combination of foresight and preparation,” said Mayor James R. Spango. “Our Department of Public Works and our Office of Emergency Management (OEM) had the foresight in working with PSEG year-round to have branches trimmed and to install battery backups on our major traffic lights. This greatly contributed to our Borough’s success in persevering through this storm. I applaud and thank our Borough employees for their commitment and dedication.”

Branches must not exceed 6" in diameter and needs to be placed in paper bags or loosely at the curb, separate from branches. If you are on a county road, you must bag your debris. Once crews have completed your street, they will not return until the next pickup date. If you have any questions, please call the Department of Public Works at (973) 226-6565.
