Borough of Roseland Receives Donation of Lifesaving Device for Choking Rescue

At the Easter Egg-stravaganza on March 30, the Roseland Police Department received a donation of several LifeVac devices from non-profit organization Maverick's Legacy.

Maverick's Legacy was formed by Maverick's parents, Kimberly and Darrin, after their son Maverick was the victim of a choking accident at nearly five months old in April 2022. The non-profit aims to save lives by advocating for choking awareness, providing age-appropriate toys for infants and toddlers, and distributing LifeVac Airway Clearance Devices.

The Police Department received a donation of these devices so that each police car can have one available in the event of an emergency when an officer responds to a household. While used mainly for infants, the LifeVac device is designed to be used on anyone for which the Heimlich Maneuver cannot be used - and the device can also be self administered in the event someone who is alone is experiencing a choking incident.

The Borough of Roseland and the Roseland Police Department thanks non-profit Maverick's Legacy for the donation of these LifeVac devices and while we hope they never have to be used, we hope that a life can be saved in the Borough because of your generosity.
